Women's golf finishes seventh at UCF Invitational

In windswept conditions at the Stoneybrook Golf Club, Green and Fudge followed their opening round of 77 with a matching 78s to just miss the top 20 and lift the Dolphins from eighth place.
"The conditions were really tough out there today," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "The wind came out of the west and it was two-club difference than the day before. These are the two best rounds that we've posted back-to-back this season and hopefully we can build off of this the rest of the season."
Rollins College held off a late run by Florida International to win the team event by three, firing a two-round total of 595. FIU's Susan Nam took home individual medalist honors with back-to-back one-under par 71s to finish as the only player under par.
Jacksonville followed its opening round of 310 with a 314 on the final day, with Green and Fudge leading the way with a two-round total of 155, 11-over par..
Adding to the Dolphins' team score was Camilla Loeveid and Therese Karlsson. Loeveid and Karlsson both shot 79 in the second round, with Loeveid tying for 52nd with a total of 162 (18-over par) while Karlsson tied for 58th at 166 (22-over par).
Alexandra Andersen, who opened the tournament with a one-over par 73 followed with an 87 in the final round to finish in a tie for 46th at 160 (16-over par).
The Dolphins had the best finish of the four Atlantic Sun Conference teams in the event, beating Mercer, FAU and Stetson.
Jacksonville returns to the course on Feb. 25 in Daytona Beach, Fla., at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational.
