DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Jacksonville women's golf team claimed the BCC Invitational over the weekend by 26 shots to snap a three-year title drought.

The Dolphins claimed the nine team event with a two-round total of 637 to beat host Bethune-Cookman on the par-72 Indigo Pines Country Club. For the tournament, JU had four players in the top 10 and all five in the top 20.

Jacksonville got a stellar effort from freshman Therese Karlsson, the top finisher for JU. Starting in the No. 5 position, Karlsson fired rounds of 78 and 80 to finish just one shot back of a playoff for the individual title.

"We played really well in tough conditions," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "We got some great play from some young players, especially Therese."

Jessica Green finished fourth in the individual competition after firing the low score of the final round with a four-over par 76 to shoot 160 for the tournament. Camilla Loeveid finished just a shot behind to tie for fifth with a two-round total of 161 after rounds of 81 and 80.

Alexandra Andersen carded rounds of 79 and 85 to finish in a tie for ninth with a two-round total of 164. Heather Fudge tied for 16th with a two-round total of 170, highlighted by a team-low 78 in the first round.

The Dolphins are back in action again on March 13 at the North-South Intercollegiate in Jacksonville Beach.
