Women's golf rallies to win second straight North-South title

March 13, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The best round of the 2007 season couldn't have come at a better time for the JU women's golf team.

The Dolphins carded a 309 in the final round to race past overnight leaders Eastern Illinois and Wofford to win their second straight North-South Intercollegiate title at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course.

Alexandra Andersen led the way for JU, posting her second straight 75 to finish in fourth place at six-over par, 150.

"We put together a very solid round today in some windy conditions today," said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley. "Everyone had a hand in the win, which makes it even more special."

Jessica Green came up with a big round, bouncing back from an 81 on Monday to post a four-over par 76 in the final round, including her first eagle - a chip-in on the par-5 sixth.

Heather Fudge posted a 78 in the final round, with Therese Karlsson shooting an 80 to round out the team score. Camilla Loeveid posted an 82 in the final round after a 76 in the first round.

The Dolphins return to the links on March 30 at the Ryder Florida State Championship in Miami Lakes, Fla.
