Women's golf finishes 12th at the Ryder Florida Intercollegiate

MIAMI, Fla.- - The Jacksonville women's golf team improved its score each round while finishing 12th at the Ryder Florida Women's Collegiate Championship on the par-72 Don Shula's Golf Resort.

Camilla Loeveid was the top finisher for JU, tying for 42nd after opening with an 85 and following it up with back-to-back 79s. She shot 243 for the 54-holes, finishing at 27-over par.

"We had a tough first round, but we came back and improved each round," said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley. "We're now going to go back to work and get ready for the conference tournament in a couple of weeks."

South Florida won the 12-team event with a three-round total of 908 to rally past Florida Southern. USF's Christina Jones and Rollins' Laura Fourdraine tied for the individual title at 222, six-over par.

The Dolphins opened the tournament with a round of 343, followed by a 327 in the second round and a final round of 317.

Heather Fudge finished in 44th, improving each round after opening with an 87. Fudge closed with rounds of 80 and 77 to finish at 244, 28-over par.

Therese Karlsson also improved each round, going from an 85 in the first round to an 82 in the second round and finishing with an 80 to tie for 47th at 31-over par, 247.

Alexandra Anderson tied for 51st after opening with back-to-back 86s and firing an 81 in the final round to finish at 253, 37-over par.

The Dolphins are off until the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, which starts on April 9.
