The JU women’s golf team saw its promising final round of the Queens Intercollegiate sail away among the lakes forming throughout the Dye’s Valley Course at the TPC at Sawgrass on Monday.

The rain never let up and rendered the course unplayable, but not before the Dolphins were able to regain some confidence lost in the opening round. All five players for JU were around par when play was stopped in a driving rainstorm.

“We were able to handle the conditions better today than we were yesterday,” said JU head coach Mike Blackburn. “I hate that we didn’t get to finish the round because we were playing well, but it was good for everyone to get back out there and put yesterday behind us.”

The Dolphins finished 12th in the 17-team event that was shortened to just 18 holes. Florida Southern and Stetson shared the team title.

JU is off until Oct. 13 when they travel to participate in the NSU Shark Invitational.
