Women’s golf seventh at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational
JU senior Therese Karlsson carded rounds of 78 and 76 to finish alone in ninth place after the first day of the Holiday Inn Express Invitational.

Karlsson 10-over par total of 154 has her just five shots out of the lead of Stetson’s Danielle Jackson and Daytona State’s Melissa Magdor.

The Dolphins are in seventh place in the 10-team event after shooting rounds of 324 and 322 to finish with a 646 total. Stetson leads entering the final round with a 36-hole total of 597, with all five players in the top 10.

“We played better in the second round, but we definitely left some shots out there today,” said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley. “We know that we’re capable of playing a lot better and I think we’re going to come out tomorrow with something to prove.”

Alexandra Anderson opened with an 82, but shot a 79 in the afternoon to finish in a tie for 25th at 17-over par, 161. Freshman Morgan Jackson opened with an 83 but carded an 80 in the afternoon to finish in 30th at 19-over par, 163.

Sophomore Jessica Williams opened with a 92 and finished with a 94 and is in 44th heading into the final round.
