Women’s golf finishes 14th at the Eagles Landing Invitational
The JU women’s golf team posted its best round of the Eagles Landing Invitational, carding a 312 in the final round to finish 14th.

The Dolphins were led by a season-best even-par 72 by junior Paige Gifford, who ended up tied for 56th in the individual competition.

Jacksonville’s final round pushed its three-round total of 954 and 14th place in the 15-team event. Chattanooga won the individual title at 866, with Emma deGroot posting three rounds of par or better to finish at four-under par, 212.

“Paige had a really good round today,” said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley. “We didn’t play well yesterday and we knew we had to come back with a good round today and did it.”

Joining her in the sub-80 club was Alexanda Andersen, who shot a four-over par 76, finishing in a tie with Gifford at 236, 20-over par. Morgan Jackson completed the trio tied for 56th with an 82 in the final round.

Allison Cornell also posted an 82 that counted towards JU’s score, placing her in 77th at 254. Jessica Williams shot an 86 in the final round to tie for 75th at 250.

The Dolphins are back in action at the Crystal River Invitational on March 26.
