Women’s golf posts second best round of the day at Sea Trail Intercollegiate
The JU women’s golf team shot a 14-over par, 302, and took sole possession of third place after the second round at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate.

The Dolphins got a one-over par 73 from Kristen Boettcher, who moved into a tie for third place at six-over par.

Jacksonville trails host Elon, who posted a seven-over par 295, and leads the 10-team event at 18-over par. JU is at 37-over par and trails second place Appalachian State by two shots entering the final round.

Elon’s Tara McFadden leads the individual competition at two-under par after carding a three-under par 69. She goes into the final round with a seven-shot lead over Appalachian State’s Yue Xu.

“We played really well today,” said JU assistant coach Jen Poth. “Kristen hit the ball really well today and it was good to have all four scores in the 70s.”

Morgan Jackson fell into a tie for sixth after shooting a four-over par 76 in the second round. She is at seven-over par after 36 holes.

Jessica Williams and Melissa Magdor are tied for 16th at 12-over par. Williams shot a four-over par 76 while Magdor carded a five-over par 77 to count towards the team score.

Francesca Yong shot a 10-over par 82 and is in 42nd at 23-over par, 167.

The Dolphins will look to take home second place when they tee it up in the final round on Sunday morning.
