Women’s golf wraps second day at Xavier Invitational
The JU women’s golf team sits in 14th place for the second day in a row following the second round at the Xavier Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Saturday afternoon.

Kristen Boettcher (t-50th) carded a six-over par 78 to pace the Dolphins’ second round on the par-72 Legends course at LPGA International. Morgan Jackson shot another 80 to lead all JU golfers individually in 45th place.

Daytona State has taken the overall team lead after shooting a 290 for the second round to hold a 14-shot lead over Montana. Daytona State’s Mitsuki Katahira continues to lead the individual competition after posting a three-under par, 69, for the second straight day.

“We improved today, but still didn’t get the start I wanted us to in the round,” said JU assistant coach Jen Poth. “We look forward to recording one solid round tomorrow to finish the tournament strong.”

Meghan Hughes and Jessica Williams each carded an 84 for the second round to tie for 74th, while Melissa Magdor shot an 86 to drop back to 72nd place.

The Dolphins will tee off at 9:10 a.m. with McNeese State in the third round on Sunday.
