JU in seventh after two rounds at the WGV Intercollegiate
The JU women’s golf team is in seventh place after two rounds at the inaugural World Golf Village Intercollegiate on the Slammer & Squire Golf Course.
Kristen Boettcher led the Dolphins with rounds of 75 and 79 to finish the first day in ninth place at 10-over par, 154.
Jacksonville was in second place, just one shot out of the lead, after shooting a 309 in the first round. The Dolphins ran into some trouble in their second round, posting a 330 to fall back to seventh.
Daytona State leads the nine-team at 611, three shots clear of Stetson. Daytona State’s Mitsuki Katahira carded a four-under par 68 in the second round to take the individual lead at three-under par, 141.
Morgan Jackson and Melissa Magdor are tied for 21st at 16-over par, 160, after two rounds. Jackson battled her way around the course to card a pair of 80s while Magdor opened with a 79 and closed with an 81.
Meghan Hughes tied Boettcher for the low round of the morning, carding a season-low 75 before fading with a 92 in the second round to tie for 39th at 167. Jessica Williams opened with an 85 and followed it up with a 90 to sit in 46th at 175.
The Dolphins will start their final round at 8 a.m. on the 10th tee with Charleston Southern and USC Upstate.
