Women’s lacrosse beaten at Louisville, 21-9
The JU women’s lacrosse team couldn’t stop an eight-goal run early in the first half as Louisville downed the Dolphins at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium, 21-9.

Freshman Cassie Campasano recorded her fifth hat trick of the year for the Dolphins (5-9, 3-2 NLC) as six players recorded points in the loss. Freshman goalie Karli Tobin made 13 saves on the day but the green and gold were outshot, 41-15.

Bergan Foley scored seven goals for Louisville (8-5) while Liz Lovejoy netted four goals and one assist. Goalie Danielle Pawlin made three saves and conceded six goals en route to picking up the win.

“We knew this was a strong program we were facing today and that it was going to be a tough game,” said JU head coach Mindy McCord. “We can’t dwell on this too much because we have to turn around and play again tomorrow.”

After an opening score from the Cardinals, the Dolphins drew even on an unassisted goal from freshman Megan Lusby. JU would not score again until 11 minutes later after an eight goal Louisville run. Alyssa Hardesty would end the streak on an assist from Campasano.

The Dolphins recorded two more goals in the first half with scores from freshmen Jocelyn Jamison and Abigail Warnken, heading into halftime trailing 14-4.

Campasano recorded all of her goals in the second half and two other Dolphins found the back of the net with Sarah Michel scoring first for JU in the second frame and Campasano following quickly after. Jamison added her second of the game midway through the half and Campasano rounded out the day with two more scores inside the last ten minutes.

The Dolphins struggled turning defense into offense, converting just nine of their 17 clear attempts and were outdrawn by the Cardinals, 21-10.

JU is back on the field tomorrow after a drive up to Cincinnati to face the Bearcats at 2 p.m.
