Women’s LAX to Host Free Clinics for Duval Youth

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-  The Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse coaching staff and First Coast Lacrosse (FCL) are excited to bring youth lacrosse to Duval County. As the excitement of the sport spreads across Florida, the FCL has recognized the need to teach children how to play lacrosse correctly and is pleased to announce the dates of two free lax clinics.

The workshops are scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m. JU head coach Mindy McCord and assistants Paul McCord, Sarah Gallion and Mikey Meagher will be the clinicians and boys and girls between the ages of seven and 13 are invited to participate. The upcoming clinic will take place at Bishop Snyder High School while the latter will be held at The Episcopal School of Jacksonville.

“Our mission as a program transcends winning championships and games,” said McCord. “It's about growing the sport and being ambassadors to the state of Florida and on the First Coast. We are passionate about teaching the sport of lacrosse the right way from the start! We want kids to achieve success from the first time we have an introductory clinic. It's a super fun game and we hope to continue these clinics throughout the city and help start youth programs with curriculum and player development second to none.”

For these clinics, all equipment will be provided for each child.  However, participants need to wear appropriate clothes, cleats, and drink plenty of water.
