JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Samara Generals and Mary Mosier of the JU women’s rowing team have been named National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Generals and Mosier receive the prestigious national award after not only working hard out on the water, but in the classroom as well.  To be eligible, a student-athlete must be in at least her second year of eligibility, maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and have raced in 75 percent of the team's events.

“I am impressed with our student-athletes that can hold themselves to such a high standard in the classroom and on the river,” said Director of Rowing Jim Mitchell.  “It is no easy task to meet the qualifications of this award, and for that, I am proud of Mary and Samara for their consistent effort throughout the season.”
