Dolphins Down Lady Trojans 1-0 On The Road
October 28, 1999
Troy, Ala. - Freshman Brooke Ade scored her first career goal on a cross from junior Marit Foss with 13 minutes left in regulation to give Jacksonville University (9-7, 6-2) a 1-0 conference victory over Troy State (3-13-1, 0-7-1) in the Lady Trojans' final home game of the season.
After scoring five goals in a 5-5 tie against Mercer back on October 9th, TSU has now been held scoreless in each of the last five games. Three of those games were hard fought contests that ended 1-0, including the Dolphins' first shutout of the 1999 season on Thursday afternoon.
Throughout the game both teams had scoring opportunities that did not yield any goals until Foss connected with Ade in the 77th minute of play. Although the Dolphins outshot the Lady Trojans 26-4, Troy State had chances where it could have produced a goal but JU freshman goalkeeper Krsiten Kirsch would not allow them to convert with four saves. Troy State freshman goalkeeper Hanna Haile had another good day in the net as she collected 13 saves and kept the Lady Trojans in the match.
Troy State will now conclude its third season of competition on Saturday when it travels to DeLand, Fla. to take on Stetson at 2:00 P.M. The Dolphins will close out their regular season on Saturday as well, taking on Mercer in Macon, Ga. with a second place finish in the TAAC still a possibility. JU must win on Saturday and get help from Campbell versus Georgia State in order to reach second place and secure a first round TAAC Tournament bye.
