Women's Soccer Tops South Alabama, 4-1, in Nike Legends Classic

Forwards Stine Kloster (Stavanger, Norway) and Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway) had a pair of goals as the Jacksonville University women's soccer team defeated South Alabama, 4-1, Sunday afternoon to win the JU/Nike Legends Classic at the Ashley Sports Complex.

The Dolphins improve their record to 5-1 on the season, as the Jaguars fall to 3-3.

Riis Groven opened the scoring at 13:57 in the match off a cross from sophomore forward Vanessa Illanes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). Kloster added the Dolphins' second goal of the first-half at the 42:19 mark off a breakaway pass from senior forward Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway).

Kloster came right back in the second half to get her second goal of the day, a 20-yard shot, at 47:36 in the contest. Riis Groven's second goal, a header off of a corner kick by Foss, occurred at the 55:48 mark.

South Alabama would avoid the shutout when freshman forward Jackie Shirer scored an unassisted goal at 83:05 in the match.

Game one of the Classic showcased Florida Atlantic and Howard. FAU won the contest, 3-1, off of three goals by sophomore forward Lisanne Peart.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 as they face Belmont at 12 p.m. in the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by Stony Brook in Stony Brook, N.Y.
