Senior forward Stine Kloster (Stavanger, Norway) scored two goals as the Jacksonville University women's soccer team shut-out TAAC opponent Stetson, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex.
With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 10-1-0 overall and 3-0-0 in TAAC play. The victory extends the Dolphins' school-record winning streak to nine games. The loss drops the Hatters to 3-6-0 on the year, 1-2-0 in league play. Sophomore goalkeepers Melissa Cancio (Hialeah, Fla.) and Kristen Kirsch (Green Bay, Wisc.) combined for the Dolphins' sixth shut-out of the season.
Kloster's goal, a breakaway pass from senior midfielder Dianne Scott (Houston, Texas), came at the 25:45 mark to put the Dolphins up 1-0 in the first half.
Junior forward Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway) opened the scoring in the second half with a penalty kick at 58:53 of the contest. Kloster scored her second and JU's final goal at 64:25, taking a Tara Greggains (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) pass inside the 6-yard box and beating goalkeeper Genevieve Roy.
The Dolphins return to action Sunday, Oct. 1 when they take on regionally ranked University of Miami at 1 p.m. in Miami, Fla.
