Women's Soccer Shuts Out UCF 4-0

Four different players scored as the Jacksonville University women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win over Trans America Athletic Conference opponent UCF Friday night at the Central Florida Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 12-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in TAAC play. The victory extends the Dolphins' school-record winning streak to 11 matches and they earned their seventh shutout of the season. The loss drops the Golden Knights to 3-10-1 on the year, 2-2-0 in league play.

Senior forward Stine Kloster (Stavanger, Norway) scored JU's first goal on a breakaway, from a perfect through-ball pass from senior forward Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway) for her nation-leading 21st assist of the season. Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway) scored in the 30th minute on a 25-yard blast out of a cluster of UCF defenders to put the Dolphins' up 2-0 at the half.

Senior midfielder Dianne Scott (Houston, Texas) opened the scoring in the second half as she was left alone at the back post on a loose ball which she knocked in for the 3-0 lead. Foss closed out the scoring for JU in the 72nd minute off a crossing pass from freshman midfielder Erika Chapman (Bradenton, Fla.), which she blasted in from 20 yards out.

The Dolphins return to action Sunday, Oct. 8 when they take on TAAC opponent Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
