In a span of 2:30, sophomore midfielder Dianne Herlihy (Key West, Fla.) assisted on both the game-tying and game-winning goals to spark the Dolphins past Florida Atlantic, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Sun conference action at Ashley Sports Complex. The win improves the Dolphins to 5-3, evening their conference record at 2-2. The Owls fall to 4-3 and 1-1 in A-Sun competition.

Florida Atlantic got on the board early, scoring in the ninth minute of the match, behind a Lisanne Peart goal.

Down 1-0, in the 61st minute, Herlihy entered the match. Within her first 14 seconds of action, she hit junior midfielder Kristen Holstrom (Anaheim, Calif.), who blasted home the equalizer from 18 yards out. Herlihy struck again in the 64th minute, this time feeding junior midfielder Vanessa Illanes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) who scored to put the Dolphins ahead for good, 2-0.

In a game that featured a two-hour lightening delay, the Dolphins outshot the Owls 16-9.

The Dolphins return to action in the second game of a three-game homestand on Thursday, September 27, when they host Atlantic Sun opponent, Jacksonville State, at Ashley Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
