ELON COLLEGE, N.C. - Senior forward Karen Novak (Coral Springs, Fla.) scored her second goal in as many matches, but a late Phoenix goal proved to be the match-winner as the Dolphins were defeated by Elon 2-1, Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. The loss drops JU to 9-6-1, while Elon improves to 6-8.

The Dolphins fell behind, 1-0, just 58 seconds into the match when Phoenix forward Marissa Venuti received a pass from teammate Kate Schabo for the score.

The Dolphins fought back to score the equalizer in the 53rd minute when Novak stole a Phoenix pass and blasted a shot into the back of the net.

Elon would break the 1-1 tie in the 78th minute behind a goal from Laura Fogg, who took a cross a shot it past Dolphin goalie Stephanie Fowler (Seffner, Fla.) for the 2-1 lead and consequent win.

The Dolphins outshot the Phoenix 15-12, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Dolphins return home for their next match, when they host conference foe, UCF on Tuesday, November 2, at 3 p.m.
