Women's Soccer Inks Two in Signing Period

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Looking to reclaim its crown as the Atlantic Sun's top team, JU women's soccer head coach Mike Johnson announced the signing of Norwegian star, Ranveig Aus Hanssen,and Texas high school standout, Courtney Hardy during the spring signing period

Hanssen, a forward for the F.K. Larvik and Fossum club team in Skien, Norway, home of former Dolphin star and 2000 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, Trine Riis Groven, brings a strong offensive presence to the Dolphins squad. She earned to Player of the Year recognition in the 1999-2000 season after leading the team in scoring, and was invited to the Norwegian Under-21 national camp.

Hardy, who played with current Dolphin midfielder Julie Petrauskas for the Austin Capitals in club soccer, made her mark at Lake Travis High School as one the school's all-time leading scorers. During her prep career the three-time all-district selection scored more than 60 goals and led Lake Travis to three consecutive Bi-District Championships.

The Dolphins return 13 players from an injury-riddled 2001 team. JU has appeared in the A-Sun Championship match three of the last four seasons, including its first conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000.
