JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore forward Ranveig Aas-Hanssen (Skien, Norway) and freshman forward Jenny Borschel (St. Petersburg, Fla.) each tallied goals as the Jacksonville University women's soccer team held on for a 2-1 win over Appalachian State on Friday evening in the final exhibition match for the Dolphins.

Aas-Hanssen put JU on the board in the 35th minute when she received a pass from Meagan Farrell (Ft. Myers, Fla.) and scored from three yards out. The Dolphins made it 2-0 when Inge Heiremans (Tremelo, Belgium) crossed the ball to Borschel, who then put it away from two yards out in the 61st minute.

The Mountaineers scored four minutes later when Whitney Southard was attempting a corner kick that ended up deflecting off a Dolphin defender into the net. Appalachian State outshot JU 17-13, while the corner kicks were even at 4-4. Sarah Scalese (Brewster, Mass.), Jennifer O'Malley (Ormond Beach, Fla.), and Stephanie Lounsberry (Columbia, S.C.) combined to make seven saves in the win.

The Dolphins return to action next Friday when they host Florida International in their season opener at the Ashley Sports Complex at 5 p.m.
