GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore forward Ranveig Aas-Hanssen (Skien, Norway) and junior midfielder Erika Chapman (Bradenton, Fla.) each scored goals for JU, as the Dolphins (2-3) fell to No. 6 Florida, 6-2, Sunday afternoon in women's soccer action at Percy Beard Stadium in Gainesville. Megan McMillan led the Gators (6-0) with a pair of goals, while Christine Johnson added a goal and an assist.
Johnson put UF on the board in the ninth minute when she took a pass from Crystal Frimpong and scored inside the box to make it 1-0. Ashley Kellgren and Amber Presnick also scored to give the Gators a 3-0 halftime lead.
McMillan scored in the 58th minute off a keeper deflection by a shot from Jessica Young. The Dolphins ended the Gator run when Aas-Hanssen took a ball from junior defender Lauren Starmer (Oviedo, Fla.) and put it away from eight yards out in the far post to make it 4-1.
Jacquelyn Parsons and McMillan both tallied goals in the 81st and 83rd minute, respectively, before Chapman scored her first goal of the season less than two minutes later from 18 yards out off a pass from senior midfielder Erin Bitterli (St. Petersburg, Fla.).
The Dolphins return to action when they compete in the Florida State Invitational on Friday, Sept. 19 and will take on No. 25 Ole Miss at 4:30 p.m.
