JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore forward Ranveig Aas-Hanssen (Skien, Norway) scored both Dolphin goals as JU defeated Lipscomb, 2-1, Saturday at the Ashley Sports Complex. Aas-Hanssen, who is currently leading the A-Sun in scoring with 26 points (12 G, 2 A), has tallied six goals in her last two matches. The Dolphins improve to 4-5, and have won their first two conference matches.
Pennington put Lipscomb (1-6, 0-2 A-Sun) on the board 55 seconds into the match from 15 yards out on the right side to make it 1-0. Aas-Hanssen answered for JU in the 14th minute when she scored on a direct kick, making it 1-1 at the half.
The match remained tied until the 79th minute when sophomore midfielder Regan Rone's (South Amboy, N.J.) corner kick was deflected off the foot of sophomore midfielder Amber Otto (DeLand, Fla.) and landed inside the box to Aas-Hanssen, who scored the game-winner.
JU outshot the Lady Bisons, 13-3, and finished with a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Stephanie Lounsberry (Columbia, S.C.) had two saves in her first start in goal for the Dolphins, while Adrienne Childers finished with 10 saves for Lipscomb.
The Dolphins return to action when they play at Georgia State in an A-Sun match on Friday, Oct. 3 at 4:00 p.m.
