BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Jacksonville University women's soccer team had its season ended in the Atlantic Sun Championship semifinals, as third-seeded UCF dropped the Dolphins, 3-0, at the Eakes Athletic Complex Friday afternoon. JU closes the 2004 campaign with a 5-9-5 overall record.

The Golden Knights (16-3-1) went ahead early in the first half on Shannon Wing's shot in the third minute. In the 17th minute, Kendra Flock got free behind the JU defense and beat sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Kmiotek (Tampa, Fla.) to put UCF up 2-0. Flock scored again in the 57th minute when she again slipped behind the Dolphin backline off an Allison Blagriff cross and scored her 12th goal of the season.

"Give UCF all the credit today," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "They beat us tonight with a very impressive effort."

The Dolphins were outshot, 18-2, while UCF also held the advantage in corner kicks, 9-1. Junior goalkeeper Jennifer O'Malley (Ormond Beach, Fla.) recorded three saves in relief of Kmiotek.

JU set a school record with five ties on the season as well as taking a team record seven matches into overtime. Freshmen forwards Jess Newport (Forked River, N.J.) and Stephanie Elgie (London, Ontario) both earned spots on the 2004 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team.
