May 9, 2005
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's soccer team signed midfielder/defender Lauren Haynes (Auburn, Wash.) and goalkeepers Aine Feaser (Tampa, Fla.) and Leslie Rimer (Glenmont, N.Y.) to national letters of intent, head coach Chris Kouns announced today. The trio joins midfielders Heidi Dettmer (Snohomish, Wash.), Angela Hulse (Kirkland, Wash.), Stephanie Kormanik (New City, N.Y.), Michelle Lavine (Orange Park, Fla.), Katie Orr (London, Ontario), forward Keri Zwikker (Woodstock, Ontario) and defender Kirby Hutton (Clifton, Va.).
"I am pleased with all of the additions, and they make me very excited about the future of JU women's soccer," said Kouns.
Haynes, a defender at Auburn High School, earned honorable mention All-South Puget Sound League honors in 2003. She also led the F.C. Royals club team to a final eight appearance in the Washington State Cup. Haynes is also a standout in track, helping the Trojans' 4x400-meter relay team to the state title in 2003.
Feaser, an Alonso High School product, earned First-Team All-Western Conference honors as a goalkeeper in 2004 and was also selected to play in the Hillsboro-Pinellas All-Star Game. Her Clearwater Chargers club team is currently competing in the Florida State Cup Final Four.
Rimer led her Bethlehem Central High School squad to three championships, including the Gold Division Championship, while compiling 0.42 goals against average as a senior. Rimer also won a Florida 3A state title at Nease High School in 2001 and a regional title in 2002 before moving to New York.
Last season under first-year head coach Kouns, JU finished 5-9-5 and advanced to the Atlantic Sun Championship semifinals after defeating third-seeded Florida Atlantic in the first round.
