BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Senior Amber Otto scored her first goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as Gardner-Webb downed the Jacksonville women's soccer team, 4-1, Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Sun action at Boiling Springs, N.C.

"I'm proud of 12 girls who played today and how they fought, but we just made too many mental mistakes," said head coach Chris Kouns. "We gave up an easy goal in the beginning and we didn't have our competitive drive to fight back from that. Gardner-Webb deserves all the credit because they play hard and out fought us today."

The Bulldogs (7-7-1, 5-3-1 A-Sun) grabbed the initial lead by scoring with less than five minutes into the first half from Linsday Gladhill scoring off a free kick. Brittany Woods helped the Bulldogs extended their lead to 2-0 by beating two defenders to score a goal at the 17-minute mark in the first half. The Bulldogs score twice in the second half on goals by Gladhill and Leeanna Woodworth to improve their advantage to 4-0.

Otto scored on a penalty kick for the Dolphins (6-8-3, 3-4-1) at the 12-minute mark in the second half. Junior Michelle Kmiotek and freshman Aine Feaser recorded a combined seven saves in goal.

The Dolphins play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against cross-town rival UNF in A-Sun action at Patton Park in Jacksonville, Fla.
