Oct. 26, 2005
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman Angela Hulse knocked in the game winning goal, while fellow freshman Keri Zwikker scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season to help the Jacksonville women's soccer team defeat cross-town rival UNF, 2-1, Wednesday night in Atlantic Sun action at Patton Park. The win secures a spot for the Dolphins at the A-Sun conference tournament in Boiling Springs, N.C. starting Thursday, Nov. 3.
"We are excited to get another conference win, especially since our numbers are low," said head coach Chris Kouns. "I was really happy to see the tremendous effort and heart our girls showed tonight. From the bench to the players on the field, the hard effort and heart has carried us all season."
Zwikker put the Dolphins (7-8-3, 4-4-1 A-Sun) on the board at the 13-minute mark in the first half from an assist by freshman Michelle Lavine. Less than five minutes into the second half, Hulse scored on the left corner of the goal from Lavine's team-leading 17th assist of the season to give the Dolphins the victory.
Tessa Heer scored on a corner kick to give the Ospreys (7-7-2, 5-4-1 A-Sun) their lone goal.
The Dolphins travel to play Stetson on Friday at 7 p.m. to make up their postponed game from Oct. 6.
