The Jacksonville University women's soccer will face a difficult schedule this fall as the Dolphins released their 2006 schedule.

"This will be a challenging schedule for our team, but we will be prepared for it," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "We have a tough non-conference slate with Florida State and Georgia, while also playing a hard Atlantic Sun Conference schedule. I'm excited for the possibilities that can happen."

The Dolphins open the season on the road in Athens, Ga. to take on Georgia on Aug. 25. Their non-conference schedule also includes national powerhouse Florida on Sept. 10 and Florida State on Oct. 25, who made the Women's College Cup in 2005.

The Dolphins will play 10 games at the friendly confines of the Ashley Sports Complex.

JU opens their home slate with Florida International on Aug. 30.. They will also play cross-town rival North Florida at home on Sept. 22. For the third consecutive year, the Dolphins will host the Kick Out Cancer Tournament to raise money to fight the disease starting Sept. 15.

Last season, the Dolphins recorded an 8-10-3 finish and made their second consecutive A-Sun tournament semifinal under Kouns. Keri Zwikker and Michelle Lavine each had a hand in the Dolphins success last season.

Zwikker, the A-Sun "Freshman of the Year", led the A-Sun in goals, goal per game (0.74) and points. She ranked second on the team and conference with 10 assists. Zwikker also picked up first team all-conference and all-freshman accolades for her successful season.

Lavine led the Atlantic Sun and ranked fifth nationally in assists per game. She was second on the team with four goals and 25 points. Lavine earned second team all-conference and all-freshman team accolades, while also being named to the Jewish Sports Review All-America team for her stellar season.
