JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore women's soccer player Louisa Ward was selected to represent Jacksonville University at the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as announced on Monday.

Ward was one of four Dolphins student-athletes nominated to the NCAA Leadership Conference Selection Committee who had a total of 1,319 nominations from 333 institutions. She will be attending the conference with 352 student-athletes at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex on May 28-June 1.

"I am thrilled that Louisa was honored with this opportunity," said JU women's soccer head coach Chris Kouns. "She is the very student-athlete that the NCAA Leadership Conference is all about. Her involvement in the SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee), her support of other athletes and sports teams, and her support of other departments on campus has just been tremendous. Without a doubt the NCAA chose the right person and I am certain that she is going to represent Jacksonville University very well."

In 2005, Ward made 12 starts in 20 games, while recording three shots on goal. She also helped the Dolphins make their second consecutive trip to the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament semifinals.
