Keri Zwikker named Atlantic Sun Conference Offensive “Player of the Week”
Senior forward Keri Zwikker was named Atlantic Sun Offensive “Player of the Week” after scoring three of five Dolphin goals to help the JU women’s soccer team to a perfect mark at the Crimson Tide Classic.
Zwikker earns her third career weekly honor and is the second Dolphin to receive the accolade after freshman forward Jessica Hurtado was tabbed on Sept. 2.
“She is a tremendous leader and has worked very hard this season,” said JU head coach Brian Copham. “This weekend, she took it upon herself to get us in goal and created a lot of good chances for us. This is great honor for Keri, but I think this also speaks well of how good our team played this weekend.”
Zwikker added her third goal of the season to seal a 2-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State to open the Crimson Tide Classic on Sept. 19. She recorded her first multi-goal game of the season by scoring twice to help lift JU past UT-Chattanooga, 3-0, on Sept. 21. For her efforts, Zwikker was named to the all-tournament with fellow teammates senior defender Katie Orr and sophomore defender Devon Dowell.
Currently, Zwikker leads the team with five goals scored and ranks in the top three in the A-Sun. She also raised her career goals total to 45, which is eight shy of tying Stine Kloster’s 53 for the top spot in the JU record book.
The Dolphins open their A-Sun schedule on Friday at the Ashley Sports Complex against East Tennessee State with kick off set for 7 p.m.
