Women’s soccer travels to Kennesaw State on Friday
The JU women’s soccer team will see what it’s made of starting on Friday as the Dolphins begin a three-match Atlantic Sun road trip with Kennesaw State at 7 p.m.

The Dolphins (4-5-1, 1-1 A-Sun) continue with Mercer in Macon, Ga. on Sunday at 3 p.m. and will finish their road trip against in-state rival Stetson on Friday, Oct. 10 before heading back to the First Coast.

This is fourth time since the 2003 season that the Dolphins have had three or more regular-season conference road matches. The Dolphins are 1-8-1 overall in those trips with the lone victory coming against UNF on Oct. 26, 2005.

“This is a big weekend for us,” said JU head coach Brian Copham. “We are playing last season’s one and two seeds in the conference tournament. “We know that both teams are very good and tough at home. We have to play our best on both days to give us a chance. We had a good team effort, last Sunday and played well on the road two weeks ago, so hopefully we continue that momentum.”

JU opened the A-Sun schedule by splitting a pair of matches at home last weekend. East Tennessee State downed the Dolphins in overtime, 2-1, on Sept. 26. The Dolphins bounced back with a 3-1 win over USC Upstate two days later to wrap up the weekend.

Senior forward Keri Zwikker scored twice in the win, while sophomore forward Jelena Vrcelj added a goal and an assist to help the Dolphins.

Currently, Zwikker leads the team and ranks second in the A-Sun with seven goals scored. She has 47 career goals, which are six goals shy of tying JU’s career mark of 53 set by Stine Kloster. Vrcelj has tallied a team-high four assists, while freshman goalie Alexa Rooney has 48 saves in nine starts for the Dolphins between the posts.

The Owls (5-3-3, 0-1-1) opened the A-Sun schedule tying Florida Gulf Coast on Sept. 26 before dropping a 3-2 decision to the Hatters on Sept. 28. The Bears (4-3-3, 1-0-1) started the weekend with a 3-0 win against Stetson and finished with a 1-1 tie to Eagles like the Owls on Sept. 28.
