Dolphins picked to finish second as Culbreth is named to preseason team
The Atlantic Sun released its preseason awards and poll Wednesday and the Jacksonville University women’s soccer team has been predicted to finish second while senior defender Emily Culbreth was named to the Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Team.
The Dolphins tallied 85 points in the preseason poll including receiving a first place vote that left them only trailing Florida Gulf Coast. JU is expected to have another successful season after finishing in a three-way tie atop the standings last year with East Tennessee State and FGCU. The Dolphins return 17 players off of last year’s championship team while adding 12 newcomers.
For Culbreth, big things are expected out of her during her final season wearing the green and gold. She was selected to the Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Team after being a first team all-conference performer last year. During her junior season, Culbreth was responsible for JU posting a plus-10 goal differential as well as scoring two goals and assist proving she is a valuable two-way player.
JU gets its first taste of action this weekend when its plays a pair of exhibition games against South Florida and the Citadel.
