Former Dolphin Adriana Rodrigues, who graduated in December 2013 with a degree in Communications, has found a home in the Swiss National League A, playing for FC Neunkirch. Rodrigues made her debut in Switzerland at the end of January and is enjoying every minute of the adventure.
“I have wanted to be a professional soccer player since I began playing at three years old, so the simple fact that I wake up every day and am blessed to do what I love most and am most passionate about for a living is exciting,” said Rodrigues. “I am excited to keep improving as a player and person.”
Rodrigues is no stranger to playing internationally. She has experience playing for both the Brazilian and Portuguese National teams throughout her career. Although she misses her family and friends back home, she is embracing living abroad. “The team, coach and my host family are all extremely friendly and welcoming. I am learning German now, but everyone has been really helpful in translations.”
In her senior season at JU, Rodrigues went out with a bang. In the Atlantic Sun Tournament final against Florida Gulf Coast, she clinched the title for the Dolphins, scoring the winning penalty kick during the shootout.
“We are extremely happy for Adriana to have this opportunity to continue playing soccer,” said JU Head Coach Brian Copham. “She has worked extremely hard her entire career and we are proud that her work has paid off and enabled her to keep playing the sport she loves. It is a great opportunity to play in Europe and showcase her talents. We wish her and her team the best of luck this season.”
