Women’s tennis kicks off fall play at Embry-Riddle Open
The JU women’s tennis team competed in their first competition of the fall this weekend, playing in the Embry-Riddle Open at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Dolphins sent three representatives to main draw finals but couldn’t find a result.

“We played a lot of matches and had some very solid results today,” said head coach Shane Wood. “This is our first weekend of play so it’s nice to see us succeed early and get some matches under our belts.”

Freshman Virginia Iwanski reached the finals of the “Eagle Flight” by dominating her competition but fell to Clarke Tatje of Rollins. Iwanski only lost eight games in the three matches leading up to the finals.

Iwinski and her doubles partner, freshman Sara Londono, also made it to the finals in the “Blue Flight”, but fell to the doubles team from Rollins.

The Dolphins are back in action next weekend at Troy for the Troy Fall Invitational.
