Women’s tennis falls to North Texas in season opener, 7-0
The JU women’s tennis team dropped its opening match of the season to North Texas, 7-0, at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex on Saturday.

The Dolphins could never find any momentum on a chilly day in Jacksonville, dropping all three doubles matches, two of them 8-1.

“You have to give North Texas a lot of credit, they’re a great team,” said head coach Shane Wood. “We came out way too flat today and never picked it up. We made a lot of mistakes that were uncharacteristic so we’ll look rebound next weekend.”

The doubles pair of senior Tatiana Soldatova and junior Eve Castaing produced the best doubles result, falling 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match.

The best two singles results for the Dolphins came from No. 1 Soldatova (6-2, 6-2) and No. 6 Sara Londono (6-1, 6-4).

The Mean Green took all six singles matches in straight sets, losing 20 games in all.

The Dolphins are back on the court next Sunday when they face UTEP at 9 a.m.
