Women’s tennis flies past Belmont for first conference win, 6-1
The JU women’s tennis team picked up its first A-Sun win today with a 6-1 victory over Belmont.

The Dolphins were dominant in all phases of the match, winning all three doubles matches convincingly and dropping just one match in singles play.

“It’s great to get our first win in conference,” said JU head coach Shane Wood. “Hopefully we can keep this momentum going into tomorrow’s match and bring us back to .500 in the conference.”

The Dolphins started the day off with a sweep of the doubles points as Wood split up the successful pair of Tatiana Soldatova and Eve Castaing, yielding encouraging results.

Singles play led to more victories from JU with the top four players recording wins and a lone victory for Belmont in the No. 5 match. Soldatova and Castaing each won easily while Sara Londono also made quick work of her match. Fernanda Carrero pushed through for a tough, two-set win and Virginia Iwinski fell in her draw.

The Dolphins will face Lipscomb in Friday’s rescheduled match tomorrow at 9 a.m.
