Unique Singleton earns Atlantic Sun Conference “Athlete of the Week” honors
Sophomore Unique Singleton was named Atlantic Sun “Athlete of the Week” after playing a large part in the JU track & field team’s unbelievable day at the Seminole Invitational on April 11.

Singleton posted three first-place marks, including two NCAA regional qualifying times, to help pace the Dolphins. In all, the Dolphins won seven events, posted three NCAA regional qualifiers, set a school record and shattered several personal bests to close out the two-day meet.

The Kissimmee, Fla. native ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that posted a regional qualifying time of 45.57 to take first. She also ran a regional qualifying time of 54.33 to take the top spot in the 400-meter and won the 200-meter by running a 24.14.

All three of the events she in ran at the Seminole Invitational are currently first in the A-Sun rankings

“Unique had a great weekend at FSU,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “It is good to see that she is beginning to realize her potential. We will be counting on her performances to lead our team in the future.”

Singleton becomes the second Dolphin this season to earn the honor and the 15th athlete to get the accolade for JU since joining the conference in 1999.

Singleton and the Dolphins return to action on Saturday when they travel across town for the UNF Osprey Challenge.
