Track & field completes first day of NCAA East Regional
The Dolphins’ 4x100-meter relay team made the regional finals, while senior Natasha Harvey had her best long jump of the season to help the JU track & field team put up a good showing at the NCAA East Regional on Friday in Greensboro, N.C.

Harvey along with sophomores Danielle Davenport, Louise Kiernan and Unique Singleton finished eighth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.01 which earned a spot for Saturday’s final at 5 p.m.

Harvey also put herself into a position to earn an at-large bid in the long jump for the NCAA Championships after placing sixth today in the event with a leap of 20’9” (6.32m).

“Tasha had her best leap of the season which should put her in the NCAA Championships, “said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “The 4x100-meter relay will also have the same opportunity on Saturday to make the national meet after their good showing.”

In the 100-meter hurdles, Harvey narrowly missed qualifying for the finals by five hundredths of a second after posting a time of 13.65 to finish ninth.

Kiernan ran a time of 11.78 in the 100-meter preliminaries to finish 14th, which put her outside of the finals. Sophomore J’Zotta Rolle missed the 400-meter hurdles finals after running a time of 1:00.85.
