AUBURN - The Southern Miss men and the South Florida women captured team titles at the NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championhips, Saturday at Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn with point totals of 67 and 70, respectively.

On the men's side, David Kimani of South Alabama won the 10,000-meter race in 29:16.40. Following Kimani was Jackson State's David Rop finishing in 29:22.18. Kimani and Rop both qualified for the NCAA Championships Monday, Nov. 22, in Bloomington, Ind.

Following the Golden Eagles in the men's team competition was the University of Alabama. Senior Tim Broe led the Tide with a third-place finish in 29:26.77. Alabama's second-place team finish earned them a spot at the NCAA Championships. South Florida, Tennessee and Florida rounded out the top five teams with scores of 91, 113 and 136, respectively.

The top JU finisher was Israel Morales in 122nd place with a time of 33:46.84. Daniel Laverty (33:53.00) and Kevin Barry (34:44.42) finished 124th and 138th respectively for the Dolphins.

Berry was followed by South Florida's Adrea Dempsey and the UT-Chattanooga's Amanda Lynch. Following the Bulls on the women's team scoring was Florida with 89 points, Belmont with 154 points. Georgia Tech and Georgia rounded out the top five with point totals of 175 and 177. The Gators earned a spot at the NCAA Championships with their second-place finish as well. Jacksonville finished 19th in the team competition.

Leading the way for the Dolphin women was Adriana Campos in a time of 18:03.22, good for a 41st place finish. Other JU runners were Ayesha Muhammed (19:05.57-93rd), Aimee Salzer (19:13.17-101st), April Nudo (19:59.40-128th) and Jennifer Takach (20:25.92-140th).
