Freshman Charlene Charles competes at Carol Robinson Pentathlon on Friday
Freshman Charlene Charles will get her first taste of collegiate competition on Friday as she represents the JU track & field team at the Carol Robinson Pentathlon in Manhattan, Kan.

The pentathlon will include the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and end with the 800-meter.

“We wanted to get Charlene an early season combined event competition as a way to assess both her physical and technical readiness,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “The results will give us good insight on how we will approach the second semester competition schedule.”

Charles, a native of France, has posted personal bests of 3,717 in the pentathlon, 5,193 in the heptathlon, 19’6.75 in the long jump and 5’ 7” in the high jump at Lycée Gutenberg High School. She has also posted a personal best time of 13.99 in the 100-meter hurdles and a 11.94 in the 100-meter.
