Track & field completes first day of NCAA East Preliminary Round
Three different Dolphins competed in races to represent the JU track & field team at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Thursday night in Greensboro, N.C.

Junior Unique Singleton missed qualifying for the 400-meter quarterfinals after running a time of 54.56 for 29th. Junior Danielle Davenport ran a time of 55.86 (43rd), while freshman Joane Pierre registered a 2:15.28 (46th) in the 800-meter to round out the day.

“We weren’t competitive from the start of each race,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “I did not have them ready today.”

The Dolphins will now turn their focus to qualifying for the NCAA Championships in both relays on Saturday.

Singleton and Davenport along with junior Louise Kiernan and freshman Charlene Charles will run in the 4x100-meter relay at 6:45 p.m. Junior J’Zotta Rolle will join Charles, Singleton and Davenport for the 4x400-meter relay at 9 p.m.
