JU women's cross country team registered a strong performance on Saturday in the Florida State Invitational taking home a seventh-place finish.

Freshman Anastasia Fokina led the way for the Dolphins, finishing 22nd overall out of the 102 competitors, with a time of 19:29.16.

"Anastasia and Ali are showing steady improvement. We hope to see similar improvement from the rest of our squad when we race in Stetson in a few weeks."

Sophomore Alison Ritter was second across the line for the Dolphins, placing 26th with a time of 19:38.28.

Senior Danielle Coyle and sophomores Tiffanie Saxton and Alyssa Deal also competed for the Dolphins.

"We showed slight improvement," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "But we have a long way to go to meet the coach's expectations for success."

Both men's and women's teams will compete on Oct. 12 in the SODEXHO Hatter Invitational in DeLand, Fla.
