Indoor Track and Field has strong performance at Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - The JU women's indoor track and field team had their second straight strong performance of the weekend on Sunday at the Clemson Invitational.

Junior Shaquania Lundy set the school record at the triple jump of 42-00, placing first in the event. Her mark was the seventh best in the country so far this year.

"We are really proud of how our upperclassman stepped up today," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "They really showed character this weekend and put us in a good position. Our freshman showed that they have the talent and we will look to improve on these performances in the coming weeks."

Natasha Harvey and Simone Clark delivered scoring performances in the 60-meter hurdles, taking home fourth and fifth respectively, while Alison Ritter finished eighth in the mile and 800-meters with times of 5:16.89 and 2:23.12 respectively.

Freshman Anastasia Fokina who was also competing in the 800-meters, finished sixth with a time of 2:22.42.

Hillary Crook finished eigth in the shotput, while Alison Salas and Ashley Lave had strong performances in the high jump and pole vault, respectively.

The Dolphins will be in action again on January 26, competing in the Tom Jones Memorial Classic in Gainesville, Fla.
