Shaquania Lundy named "Athlete of the Week"

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior Shaquania Lundy of the JU women's outdoor track and field team was named Atlantic Sun "Athlete of the Week" the conference announced on Wednesday.

Lundy met regional qualifying standards in the long jump and the triple jump over the weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

"Shaq is picking up where she left off indoors," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "She is a contender to qualify for the NCAA Championships in both events."

Lundy registered a long jump of 20-10.75 (6.37m), to earn her a third-place finish in the event and won Section "B" of the triple jump with a leap of 40-07.00 (12.37m).

Lundy qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the long jump and finished second to teammate Natasha Harvey in both the triple and long jump at the 2008 A-Sun Indoor Track and Field Championship.

The Dolphins will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the Seminole Invitational on April 12.
