Track & field adds Shadaey Campbell for the 2011-12 season
The JU track & field team is not finished building its roster for next season as they add sprinter Shadaey Campbell (Orlando, Fla.) for the 2011-12 campaign.
Campbell, a senior at Olympia High School, posted personal bests in winning the 100-meter (12.02) and long jump (16’8”) at the Tarpon Invitational on March 25. She also ran a personal best time of 57.49 in the 400-meter at the legendary Bob Hayes Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. on March 19.
“We are very excited to add Shadaey to our program,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “We are always proud when one of Florida’s top student-athletes chooses JU. She is a versatile sprinter who has run everything from 100 to 800 meters and long jumped. At the Florida Relays last weekend, I watched her run 12.02 into headwind for 100-meter, run 2:21 on a 4x800-meter relay and anchor her 4x400-meter relay in 55.8. She is an excellent student with a wonderful family. It will be exciting to watch her conclude her senior year under the guidance of Coach Greer at Olympia High School.”
Campbell is the third signee to join the Dolphins for next season after Sally Marie Futch (Statesboro, Ga., throws) and Sarah Bailey (Vernon, British Columbia, distance) committed to JU earlier in the semester.
The current Dolphins complete for their sixth straight outdoor conference title at the A-Sun Championships on April 15 in Jacksonville, Fla. at Hodges Stadium on the UNF campus.
