Freeman Named All-American
NEW ORLEANS, La.—Senior 800 meter runner Bienna Freeman earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-America Honors after her performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Freeman finished third in her preliminary heat and 10th overall to earn the second team honors. She ran a 2:04.71 in her heat and narrowly missed out on advancing to the finals. She will continue her season at the USA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa in hopes of making Team USA for the IAAF World Championships in Moscow later on this summer. The 800 meters is set to begin on June 20.
In addition to Freeman, teammates Joane Pierre and Shanique Walker were named All-America Honorable Mentions. Pierre finished 19th overall in the 800 meters while Walker was 18th in the 100 meter hurdles.
