JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For the second time in her career, junior Shanique Walker has been named the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Following up from her career-first achievement on Jan. 22, Walker dominated the Samford Invitational last weekend to earn her honor.
Shanique Walker won the 60-meter hurdles in a Jacksonville University record of 8.30 seconds, which leads the A-Sun and ranks 22nd in the nation. She improved from her qualifying time of 8.40.
She also ran the lead-off leg and fastest split on JU's winning 4x400-meter relay with teammates Shadaey Campbell, Courtney Walker and Stormm Phillips, which also set a school record in 3:41.76, besting the previous by four seconds.
Both events serve as Atlantic Sun leading marks.
Lastly, Shanique Walker also contested the triple jump, earning the second best mark in the A-Sun with 12.10m.
Next, the indoor track and field team will compete in the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championship on Feb. 21-22.
