Stormm Phillips, Coach Grigg Earn A-Sun Awards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With the 2014 indoor track & field season quickly coming to an end and the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships over, the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track & Field Championship awards were voted on earlier this week by the league coaches. The Atlantic Sun office announced Friday, Feb. 28 that Stormm Phillips and Head Coach Ron Grigg were voted as the Most Outstanding Freshman Performer and the Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year, respectively.

Phillips won the indoor pentathlon at her first Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships last weekend, tallying 3,474 points. Phillips finished first in the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles (8.98 seconds), fourth in the pentathlon high jump (1.54m), second in the pentathlon shot put (10.45m), first in the pentathlon long jump (5.70m), and fifth in the pentathlon 800-meter run (2:39.74). Phillips also earned third in the long jump and sixth in the 200-meter dash, tallying 19 points for the Dolphins.

Grigg was named the Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year for the ninth time, backed behind the team’s ninth straight Atlantic Sun Indoor Championship title since the start in 2006. The women recorded 175 points to earn the feat.
