Courtney Walker Advances to NCAA East Prelim Semis with Career-Best

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University track and field opened the 2014 NCAA East Preliminary Round on Thursday evening at the University of North Florida, where junior Courtney Walker ran a career-best in the women’s 400-meter dash prelims to qualify for Friday’s semis.

The semis event is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.

Walker placed 18th overall and fourth of eight in Heat 5 in 53.57, a career-best time that was just off the record of 53.53 set by Danielle Davenport in 2011.

The women’s 400-meter dash prelims consisted of six heats, with the top three from each heat plus the next six times to advance to Friday’s semis.

Kree Clark, Shanique Walker and Svenja Meyer will also compete on Friday for the start of their respective events.

5:30 pm – 100-meter hurdles first round (Shanique Walker)
6:15 pm – 400-meter dash semis (Courtney Walker)
9:30 pm – 3,000-meter steeplechase (Meyer)
