The Dolphin men were getting their stride in place during only the second season of NCAA I track and field competition. What better way to finish 1999 than with its first All-America selection. Chris Mutai received that distinguished honor when he finishing 7th, with a time of 14:10.25, in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA I Championships. Marcus Bodah, a Dolphin sprinter, qualified for the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships in the men's 200 meter dash. Additionally, the outdoor Dolphins finished in second place at the 1999 TAAC Championships and several athletes made huge notable accomplishments along the way.
